about a year 0r so ago i had to have surgery.
It all pretty much sucked. i remember waking up and the nurse telling me I was still anesthetized and I might get sick if I tried to move. i told her I wanted to go home, asap (I had a science test in like 5 hours or so). and she told me I couldn't be released until I urinated (I guess so they could make sure i wasn't pissing blood.) I forget why. I told her I was extremely thirsty, I had lost a lot of blood/fluids, and had been on morphine, fentinyl (?), and who knows what else, and I only really wanted a drink and a cigarette.
She gave me two loricets instead, and told me I couldn't have anything to drink because of the surgery and it would just make me puke and if I didn't get sick in 20 minutes THEN i could drink, then 20 minutes after THAT if I still didn't puke I could go home.
I told her fine and marched/stumbled across the room to the bathroom where I closed the door, quietly threw my guts up, and started downing glasses of water from the sink out of the UA cup.
Refreshed, I told her I couldn't pee yet, but maybe in a few minutes.
Finally I did piss and was released from St. Vincent's.
But what kind of mind fuck is that? You've lost a lot of fluid, you're dehydrated, you can't drink anything, and you must pee so you can leave. in my foggy state I really thought they were messing with me. I mean I was totally high and my blood pressure was really low. I dunno. I genuinely thought they were testing me in some way.
I guess if I was okay enough to drink water from my piss cup and throw up covertly, I was good enough to go home and go to sleep. |

a few weeks ago i got hit in the face with a beer bottle. for six hours I had only one ear, and one gushing shredded bloody mass where my left ear had been. this was the case for six hours. After emergency reconstructive surgery, I had both ears again. 100 stitches later all I have is a nasty set of scars and a huge bill.. That's probably the most drastic, though not the largest aesthetic change of my appearance in my life. |

Oh here's some good news: she isn't fifteen. she looks fifteen. she can't help it.

what's the chick supposed to do? dye her hair grey and and walk with a cane, that's what. she's a super-villain. enthusiasm is contagious.
